Conclusions, Beginning, and pictures of what I eat!

Yesterday was the final presentation of my apprentice project that I have spent the last three months creating while at Coach. It was a lot of work- so it was both a relief and a bit terrifying to finally present it yesterday. The collection was a blend of vintage style and modern innovation- and I was really happy with the outcome of the project. It seemed that others were too:) All eight of the apprentices had really unique projects to present and I'm glad I had the opportunity to work with so many other young and talented designers.

I'm also really happy to announce that I have accepted a job offer with Coach and am now a permanent member of the jewelry team! I'm so happy to have the opportunity to stay and work for such a great company. When I left Savannah in November, I had no idea that within a few months I'd find myself at a leading American accessory company. Its so surreal and I feel very fortunate that things worked out the way that they did!

Alright, enough about work! Let's talk about food! I had one of the most amazing meals of my life last weekend at Maharlika's brunch. They serve modern Filipino food and brunch was just to die for! I had their "Filipino Pride Chicken N Waffles" which came with a purple ube waffle, flourless fried chicken, macapuno jam, and anchovy bagoong chive butter. It was phenomenal. My roommate, Hugo, opted for the Pampangan style sizzling sisig with egg. This dish had pig ears, snout, cheek, and belly with onion, garlic, lemon, and egg served with rice. I wasn't adventurous enough to order it for myself- which is a shame- because the bite I had of his was absolutely delicious!

We decided that we would just eat our way through Saturday- and we succeeded! The rest of the day included a mid afternoon snack of tuna tar tar with pineapple, and my first authentic Brazilian dinner! We made the trek to Astoria to eat at a place called Malagueta- where I had mussels, sangria, and feijoada, the Brazilian national dish.

I don't think I'll ever bore of the food in NYC. If only someone would just pay me to eat all weekend!

March!

Well, February has come and gone! I have one month left in my apprenticeship. It is hard to believe that the time has flown this fast. It was a rather rainy, dreary week here in the city, but it has been a great weekend! I enjoyed some great meals and good times with friends. I'm getting ready for a busy week at work. By Friday, I will have all of my designs for my project completely finalized. I have a lot done, but it will still be a stretch to complete everything by the end of the week. The next month is going to be a very busy one, but I'm looking forward to the outcome.

In other news, I'm starting to feel like I really live in New York. And I'm realizing that this is most likely going to be the backdrop for my life throughout the next few years. I signed a lease on my next apartment this weekend! I'll be moving about ten blocks up the road, and am excited to really settle into the city. And I finally get to re-claim my kitties! I feel like I'm living the dream! Four years ago when I started at SCAD, I never would have guessed that I would be where I am now! I'm living in one of the most exciting cities, working a job that I love, and am constantly surrounded by driven and interesting 20-somethings. I can't believe that this is real life sometimes! I love it. Here are some snapshots of my week:)
