I had a busy week at the office. Sometimes I have to laugh. I'm not saving the world or offering a life changing service at all really. I'm in the business of sparkle: adding luster and shine to necks, wrists, and fingers across the world. But here in NY, adornment is never taken lightly. And somedays when the stress levels are high, I find amusement in a little sparkle being the source of my anxiety.
Speaking of stress levels, a most unfortunate discovery happened this week. I found seven.... Yes, SEVEN, grey hairs in my head. Perhaps I am in denial about them- but I insist this cannot be a natural phenomenon at 22. I blame NYC. I blame the fashion industry. I blame my job. I plucked a few, considered a dye job, but ultimately ended up eating a gluttonous portion of oreos to overcome my sadness. Haha.
Perhaps it was the oreo coma or maybe it was the sad state of my wallet, but I decided that I would try to implement a new change in my weekly routine: and that is eating wholesome, cheap, and homemade food throughout the work week. I have spent the last number of months ordering delivery, eating out, and trying as many new foods as possible. But I decided that for the sake of my diet and for the sake of my bank account that I would try cooking a bit more. I created several delightful pasta dishes for dinner throughout this week! The truffle salt that mom gave me certainly added much tastiness to my creations. The surprising delciousness can probably be attributed more to the truffle salt than my actual cooking ability because I'm pretty convinced that I could put truffle oil/salt on cardboard and think it is a culinary masterpiece.
My mornings took on a dramatic new change as well: no more Starbucks. I kissed my morning latte's goodbye and opted instead for my own breakfast creations and office coffee. The office coffee was an underwhelming change- but the breakfast foods turned out great: both tastier and cheaper than my usual Starbucks breakfast sandwich.

On Saturday, we headed over to Brooklyn for the food festival known as Smorgasbord. It has been called "Woodstock for foodies", which I found to be a pretty accurate description. There were hipsters everywhere and more good food than even our appetites could handle. The festival is held every Saturday in an open lot in Williamsburg. Its quite picturesque- looking over the Manhattan skyline. And if you enjoy trying new food as much as we do, Smorgasbord won't let you down.

Until next time!
