Go ahead and laugh, cause it don't cost much

I had a busy week at the office. Sometimes I have to laugh. I'm not saving the world or offering a life changing service at all really. I'm in the business of sparkle: adding luster and shine to necks, wrists, and fingers across the world. But here in NY, adornment is never taken lightly. And somedays when the stress levels are high, I find amusement in a little sparkle being the source of my anxiety.

Speaking of stress levels, a most unfortunate discovery happened this week. I found seven.... Yes, SEVEN, grey hairs in my head. Perhaps I am in denial about them- but I insist this cannot be a natural phenomenon at 22.  I blame NYC. I blame the fashion industry. I blame my job. I plucked a few, considered a dye job, but ultimately ended up eating a gluttonous portion of oreos to overcome my sadness. Haha.

Perhaps it was the oreo coma or maybe it was the sad state of my wallet, but I decided that I would try to implement a new change in my weekly routine: and that is eating wholesome, cheap, and homemade food throughout the work week. I have spent the last number of months ordering delivery, eating out, and trying as many new foods as possible. But I decided that for the sake of my diet and for the sake of my bank account that I would try cooking a bit more. I created several delightful pasta dishes for dinner throughout this week! The truffle salt that mom gave me certainly added much tastiness to my creations. The surprising delciousness can probably be attributed more to the truffle salt than my actual cooking ability because I'm pretty convinced that I could put truffle oil/salt on cardboard and think it is a culinary masterpiece.

My mornings took on a dramatic new change as well: no more Starbucks. I kissed my morning latte's goodbye and opted instead for my own breakfast creations and office coffee. The office coffee was an underwhelming change- but the breakfast foods turned out great: both tastier and cheaper than my usual Starbucks breakfast sandwich.

Toast with cottage cheese, fresh tomatoes, and greek seasoning.

Avocado toast with lime and salt.

On Wednesday, I got to leave the office a bit early to head over to the Swarovski headquarters to see all of their new products. The presentation was awesome, there were afternoon snacks, and the conference room was loaded with fun products that were encrusted in crystals. Even the door handles are bedazzled.

Encrusted heels.

Love the contrast in urban/rustic.
Strange weather made for some pretty sunsets.

Back in June, Hugo surprised me and got us tickets to go see one of our favorite bands perform in NYC. The Dispatch concert was at Radio City Music Hall on Friday and we had such a great evening!!

On Saturday, we headed over to Brooklyn for the food festival known as Smorgasbord. It has been called "Woodstock for foodies", which I found to be a pretty accurate description. There were hipsters everywhere and more good food than even our appetites could handle. The festival is held every Saturday in an open lot in Williamsburg. Its quite picturesque- looking over the Manhattan skyline. And if you enjoy trying new food as much as we do, Smorgasbord won't let you down.

Sausage Teriyaki Balls by Mimi and Coco. This little creation was my very favorite.

Beef, Pork, and Chicken Pigs in a Blanket by Brooklyn Piggies.

Lobster Roll by Red Hook Lobster

Mushroom Grilled Cheese by Milk Truck
Sadly, our full stomachs must have clouded our brains, because we forgot to take pictures of the last three dishes that we ate. And regretably, I didn't make it over to Bon Chovie to try their fried anchovies since I felt as though I may projectile vomit if I ate one more bite of delicious food. Not surprisingly, the rest of the afternoon was spent sleeping off our food induced misery.

Anyways, it was a magnificent weekend! Hope everyone else has had a splendid one as well.

Until next time!

Autumn!

Just like that, September has flown by. I'm not feeling too wordy right now, but here are some snapshots of the month!

Cool weather and Sunny days

Desk is a disaster. Can you tell things have been hectic?

Got bored, snapped a pic of a crystal on my desk, double exposed it with a picture of space. Kind of cool?

I finally got to enjoy my first lunch break in 5 months. Because, you don't need to eat in the fashion industry, you know?! Wish I had more days like this one.

Just a light breakfast sandwich from Coopers.
